I want to make a community based on rapper Logic, since it was the only one I was apart of on Reddit.

My god Lemmy has a lot of “this doesn’t work, here’s the workaround” moments.

        Can’t natively search for content.

Can’t create communities on other instances.

Can’t browse local of other instances.

Look, I get the appeal of a decentralized reddit…but MAN are there a lot of rough edges to work out before this platform will ever be anything more than “kinda like reddit, but for linux users”.

          Wdym you can’t search?

Also not being able to do stuff to other instances is expected? Why would instance hosts want a rando from anywhere on the network to make communities on their instance?

Lemmy has rough edges, but these ain’t it

This only works if you signed up on lemmy.world. In general there’s a “Create a Community” button on the main page, but some instances don’t allow normal users to create communities.

As OP is posting from a lemmy.world account, I was answering the question as it applies to them.
