I agree, but to be fair to OP, 5 and 9 are also single digit numbers.

My Andis set has a number, as well as both metric and freedom units on each guard.
My Wahl has both, the sequential digits and size in mm.
Mine can be turned around and have “9mm” and “11mm” printed on them
