same as title, recently got a new pc and installed my vpn from my thumb drive so i wouldnt connect to the internet at all without a VPN and i notice on this pc my connection gets blocked every time i try to go to reddit, which isnt often with fosscad being removed.
- yes - fuck reddit
- I think the main intention here is to block the bots. Reddit blocks requests coming from certain IPs associated with VPS and similar commercial providers. VPN services often rent exit servers there. My connection is blocked when it goes through Tailscale exit node hosted on a VPS. - You can use Tor to browse Reddit anonymously, there is even a .onion address
 - i hate reddit too but we cant scoff at the amount of info it holds
- I have the continuum client literally only to view articles. I don’t post, comment or otherwise participate. A lot of research I do keeps returning Reddit threads and I just need the safest way to view them. Otherwise I’m blocked for my security measures.

- I get this issue about 60% of the time I click on a reddit link with ProtonVPN. Though for some reason this week I’ve had no issues, but the past month I kept needing to server hop.
- Short answer: Yes
- Same here with ProtonVPN
- Yep they block mullvad. Good riddance I say (to reddit. Its all bots anyways) - ya i use mullvad and i get blocked every time. i refuse to make an account so im so glad someone had posted that re-direct cuz the amount of info on reddit is unfortunately, unmatched
- The absolute irony of a site so infested by bots blocking VPNs. - Wonder how many VPS provider IPs they get from their “users”

- I don’t have any issues. I always have VPN on and I can access Reddit without issues. - Which one do you use?

- Yes.
- It won’t happen if you are logged in, but it’s very likely that your account will be shadowbanned eventually. - Nah, I use VPN 24/7 and my account is still poping 10k likes on posts - They’ll get you eventually. I wasn’t doing anything bad, never got into trouble, never spammed, etc. I was active in small Linux subs, helping people. One day, I was simply shadowbanned. Only thing I can think of is the use of a VPN.

- Interestingly, while they do block vpns, they don’t seem to be able to block the libred instance I run on the same IP address as my VPN. - Yes, that’s because libred looks like an Android mobile app to Reddit. Content doesn’t get blocked of on there, no matter what your IP address is.
- Is there any way to auto-URL replace within a browser? ie Searching leads to a reddit thread, open on libred. - If you use the browser extension on Firefox it will do this automatically.
- Yes there is! - https://libredirect.github.io/ - Its a bit of extra work to get on some chrome based browsers but it works great once you have it set.

- I think Reddit’s onion site still works. - Reddit has an onionsite? - If you use tor, the browser will suggest the site when you get on a Reddit page, at least using old Reddit, if you don’t have the suggestions turned off in settings ( by default they are on) - I have not used Reddit it in two years , but it used to work ok in tor onion URL - new reddit also has a .onion

- Yup, this site is very familiär tot me since i got a VPN
- Yup. If you really need to check something on there, there is an extension for your browser (Chrome and Firefox) that will redirect you to an alternative privacy-friendly frontend. https://libredirect.github.io/ - this is amazing ty
- This extension is great! Thank you.
