There is a community forming right now that aims to write a MOBA from scratch, mostly fueled due to the Vanguard incident on Linux. I am not affiliated with the project, but wanted to raise attention to it (as I am currently on cold League turkey since a month).

Lmao. Get rekt league.
[ ] Rekt [ ] Not rekt [x] Tyrannosaurus rekt
@Linus_Torvalds In the meantime you still have #DOTA2 (I’m neither a #dota nor a #LeagueOfLegends player but I know people who worked on the LeagueOfLinux project)
I am aware of that possibility, but a truly FOSS MOBA would be amazing. Custom balancing on different servers, different queues, etc.
@Linus_Torvalds True, true, I’ll definitely try to play it if it ever reaches the level of @play0ad or mindustry.
I’m not any good at the game, but if you need a toxic asshole to help test it, lmk
Sounds like you have all the qualifications, welcome aboard!
Please copy dota instead of league… Dota actually had a coherent design philosophy and creative devs who know how to balance a game, league is just designed around what monetizes the community most effectively.
Let’s return to roots. Warcraft 3 mod maps.
You misspelled “StarCraft 1” so bad.
I wonder if marketing this as “replacement to League” is the best move or if it should market itself as simply a new MOBA
I think if they can do it without incurring copyright lawsuits, then yeah it’s probably a good marketing move.
At this point, LoL has become synonymous to MOBA.
A bit like Kleenex has become synonymous to tissues.
As long as they don’t tow the line with copyrighted LoL material, they should be good to go.
