• Programming. Dev is down.
  • Reddthat is down.
  • even my current instance seems to rarely go down today.

What is happening?

Update: they seem to be working now.

I had some problems accessing my instance for a few minutes earlier today, but right now everything is working smoothly.

I checked after seeing your comment:

      • .dev is still down for me.
      • Reddthat is back, but I am not sure if it’s back for good or it will have problems later.

Well it does make a significant difference for diagnosing; multiple being slow can mean they’re just (D)DOS’d (eg. by scrapers), and the unaffected use Anubis, know the user agents, blocked the IPs etc.; down could mean that the latest lemmy update had a bug and is crashing.

Load goes up with the number of users. So spikes in usage are effectively a distributed denial of service attack. Be sure to support your instance.

minnix.dev seems to have been abandoned:

    !sbcs@lemux.minnix.dev

Admin hasn’t posted in 5 months and images aren’t working for me.

Got to admit, this is extremely annoying with the threadiverse, especially in context of people pushing for decentralization too much.

I am all for decentralization, but you need a functional, long-term foundation first.
