Back in 2007, when all my friends were playing Call Of Duty, the Zombie expansion, and chatting on their headsets and all, I mentioned my thought and theory that real life bad actors might be using the same sort of chat to plan real life harmful and deadly events.
My friends thought I was being paranoid, only gamers use that chat. But seriously, when you can more or less freely speak about shooting, bombing, nuking, etc on a gaming platform, you don’t think bad actors are also using the same chat to openly make real life plans?
And sure enough, by around 2009 or so, it came out on the news that terrorists had been using those sort of chat channels to make their plans…
