Yeah I agree it’s fucked up that the parents are in trouble and the driver isn’t. The article says the driver is 76… The father probably was jailed mostly for having the wrong skin color.

I walked to school more blocks than that at a younger age. The article says the state doesn’t have laws that specify what age the kids must be supervised at to leave their own home. This happened mere blocks from where they lived.

If Republicans don’t like it they can get on board with efforts to stop gerrymandering everywhere. Glad we’re on the same page now!

True… but if Trump had to contend with Democrat majorities in the house and Senate then he would have an incentive not to do illegal shit because he could be removed from office.

Hopefully the results is that everyone is concerned about gerrymandering instead of just Democrats and something can be done about it at the federal level.

No. The strategy can work perfectly fine both ways.

The entire point of gerrymandering is to make the geography irrelevant.

If you have a large, reliably blue city where 80 percent vote Democrat you can split that into districts that go 60 percent Democrat so that Democrats win more seats but by smaller margins…

If you wanted to gerrymander in favor of Republicans, you would fracture the city even more so that you disperse those Democrat voters over more districts.

I was actually thinking it would be sweet to train as an electrician as a backup to my software engineering job, since it’s something that seems interesting to me. However, it doesn’t really seem doable. It would be cool if there was some equivalent to a coding boot camp for trades.

It would be sweet if instead of college there was a four year program where you could be trained in the basics of plumbing, electric, carpentry, automotive, landscaping and do various internships (apprenticeships) then decide when you graduate what you want to do.

It’s bullshit for companies to lay people off and retain H1Bs. The government shouldn’t approve any new H1Bs for development positions until companies stop the layoffs and the amount of developers searching for work goes down significantly.

It doesn’t make too much difference to me whether he was targeting the NFL or Blackstone, either way he showed up with a gun to hold a corporation accountable because he didn’t think our society would ever do so.

If the ruling class doesn’t like that, they can show the people that corporations and billionaires will be held accountable.

Are they anti-capitalist or anti-government? Maybe some are both, but it seems like many of these types are probably capitalist and don’t want the government to get in the way of corporations screwing people.

Ugh, I just really don’t want another ICE car. I like the Lightning and the SilvErado but I can’t justify spending 70k. Would be great if another car company had an affordable option for an AWD car or crossover with 300+ miles range.

Keeping the show until May of next year may just be due to contracts that they have with Colbert and other employees of the show. This way they avoid any lawsuits, etc related to breach of contract.

Same with cancelling the show. It seems kind of like how instead of termination for no reason, companies “eliminate the position”.

If the show had low ratings, I might agree, but it doesn’t seem like that was the case. It’s awfully suspicious given that we already know Paramount will bend over for Trump, it’s hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I lived in a neighborhood that some would consider a bad neighborhood but actually it was pretty nice. Saw a drug raid across the street from me but never had any issues with theft, violence. There was a nice path behind the house that went to a local park. The only issues we had there were with the police ticketing us for parking cars on the lawn, when there was nowhere else to park them.

But taxes don’t take money out of the system. The government then spends that revenue in the budget.
