Engadget “journalists” don’t know how to use quotes
Could be following British convention.

American style uses double quotes (“) for initial quotations, then single quotes (‘) for quotations within the initial quotation.
British style uses single quotes (‘) for initial quotations, then double quotes (“) for quotations within the initial quotation.
EDIT: Though if so, he’s not doing so later in the article.

British style looks better and more functional
Yes they do. They’re literally quoting the recall notice. It is normal to use single quotes in a headline or subheading.
As much as my opinion of anker has dropped after the security camera fiasco it’s a Good sign that they do this recall. I’m sure lesser brands would try to cover something like this up instead.
