I mean, this person is on a personal quest to get everyone to block .ml , I can understand why they might be a bit agitated. Tankies aren’t known for their patience and open mindedness.

I wish lol, yea world did defederate with the rest of the triad, but .ml is generally left because

Its the dev instance and they run official Lemmy dev/support comms from there, they still have a few big comms and some of the only niche comms (both issues I aim to address through cross-posting) and they “keep the mask on” more and keep things subtle to avoid larger defed movements

    lol

    furthermore: lmao

It will never not be funny to me that some people are so chronically online they think everyone else gives as much of a fuck about made up internet points as they do, and more, will go to such an extraordinary effort on a site which doesn’t have cumulative karma like reddit did. which they are either too stupid to realize or too angry to care. these guys not only need to touch grass, they need to go disappear into the woods and become one with nature for a few weeks.

    lastly, ow, fuck, my sides!

Upvotes and downvotes are made up internet points that decide sorting in the feeds.

It might not mean much if your opinion is popular or unpopular but when some individual loser wants to make you unseen that feels like a problem.

Since your instance or app doesnt show downvotes, it currently has 627 upvotes and 77 Downvotes. When I first came across it they had 250 to 55.

But if you checked his context link you would see that they literally made brand new instances just to downvote this man for collecting evidence on their shittiness.

Instances are more like servers or domains. Your instance is lemmy.world. We can see votes from individual users because in order for votes to federate across instances, (like if you, on lemmy.world, were to vote on my instance, lemmy.dbzer0) they must be public. So anyone with the know-how can inspect who has voted on posts, and how they have voted.

Someone spun up three entire instances and mass created dozens of accounts on each, just to mass downvote. It’s just blatant vote manipulation, and is why the admin stepped in to defederate (stop sending info back and forth) from the rogue instances.

I’ve just had .ml blocked for a long time and life’s been good. I would prefer defederation. If put democratically, I’m sure that’s what would be voted for as well.

Yeah me too. There’s very little value to justify keeping them in my feeds. As soon as there is a decent alternative to lemmy I’m leaving.

They should know better, you obviously have a good keyboard and lots of free time. I wouldn’t mess with you and I’ve been boxing for 20 years.

Man never give that up. I left a WFH job in IT that I wasn’t really happy with, but it was fine. Left to a company where everything was better on paper. Now I work 50 hour weeks on average as salary, and don’t have time to even use my benefits that actively are better.

        Never give it up. Neverrrrrrrr.

Maybe look inti teaching programming. It doesn’t pay as much, but it’s very rewarding. Doesn’t have to be with a university or something. For example, I teach springboot at a private institute. We have bootcamps, but also full, accreditted bachelors. I get to talk about talk about programming a lot, share my knowledge, expand my knowledge, give fun extracurricular talks every once in a while, write new coursework, write fun exercises. Maybe there’s something like that near you

You programming guys are way smarter than me. Tech writing wouldn’t be a bad pivot, but I’m a little worried companies will think genAI will do that work just as well as a writer. I’m actually looking at a pivot to HR, since I like the kind of people focused work and market research stuff they do.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness though. It’s very kind of you to take time out and try to assist a stranger. 🙂
